Sanibel & Captiva, Known by Heart
It’s hard to know what you’re actually booking from a listing and a few photos. We take the guesswork out of it, so the only surprise is how fast the week goes.
Your Guide to Every Rental on Sanibel & Captiva
Debbie has worked on Sanibel since 1980 and has booked more than $8 million in vacation reservations. She knows the complexes, the individual units, and the rules that come with places like South Seas. Tell her your dates and who’s coming, and she’ll point you to the rentals worth your time.
“My goal is to assure you of a vacation of a lifetime. No hassles, no worries, just sun, sand, and tropical relaxation.”

Shells, Spoonbills, and Miles of Bike Path
Shelling
Sanibel and Captiva rank among the best shelling beaches in the world. Look for sand dollars, whelks, and fighting conch at the tide line, and keep an eye out for the rare junonia. Collecting live shells is against the law here.
“Ding” Darling Refuge
About 60% of Sanibel is protected wildlife habitat, and roughly half of that is the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge. Drive, bike, or walk its four-mile Wildlife Drive for close looks at roseate spoonbills, osprey, and herons. The drive is closed on Fridays.
Biking the Islands
Sanibel’s bike paths run more than 20 miles, enough to reach the beach, the shops, and dinner without starting the car. Rentals are easy to find on both islands.
The Sanibel Lighthouse, Welcoming Visitors Since 1884
Standing at Sanibel’s eastern tip since 1884, the Sanibel Lighthouse is one of the island’s best-loved landmarks.
Ever wonder why it’s brown instead of the traditional white? It’s been a protected historic structure since 1974, so it keeps its original dark brown finish.
Here’s a fun fact: the ship carrying the lighthouse’s iron framework sank just offshore! Luckily, the pieces were recovered, and the lighthouse went on to become a treasured symbol of Sanibel’s maritime history.
